Our Data Protection Promise

We know that people who contact us do not want their details leaked to anyone. We are committed to a high standard of data protection and we have many measures in place to prevent your information ending up in the wrong hands. These include:

  • We collect information on a "need to know" basis only. This means we will not ask you for information that is not strictly necessary for us to be able to help you. For example, if you do not want to tell us your real name, that is fine.

  • We will never give your information to anyone else without your permission.

  • All of our volunteers are trusted pro-choice people who we know well.

  • All of our client interface systems (helpline system, online chat, and email) are protected by multifactor authentication. This means that even if a hacker were to guess our passwords they will not be able to get in.

  • The volunteer internal chat where we discuss cases among ourselves is encrypted.

  • We regularly delete client chats, voicemails, and call logs.

  • Any statistics we keep are fully anonymised and there is no way to trace such data back to clients.
